St John’s wort has been used since Saint Columba landed on Iona, and the herb in Gaelic is dedicated to him. Sometimes referred to as achlasan Chaluim Chille// St Columba’s armpit parcel.

Legend has it that St. Columba cured a shepherd boy’s melancholy by placing a bundle of the herb under his arm. A brilliant story that documents early use of the herb in a way that modern science has now verified.

St John’s wort, Lemon balm, Calendula, oatstraw and rose combine wonderfully together and this well balanced, earthy and mellow flavoured tea, certainly does provide a sense of cheer.
